Filing the Right Type of Bankruptcy
Depending on your financial situation, you may qualify for either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Both forms of bankruptcy are designed to help you get out from under debt.
- Chapter 7 "liquidation" bankruptcy can allow you to completely discharge most consumer debts. If you qualify, we will guide you through the process to have the Bankruptcy Court eliminate your debt.
- Chapter 13 "reorganization" bankruptcy will let you create a payment plan that you can afford. You will have to pay a portion of your debt over a certain period of time. Afterwards, remaining debt will be discharged.
Filing for any kind of bankruptcy will cause an automatic stay to go into effect. This is a court order that will stop all creditor harassment or collection until your bankruptcy case has been resolved.
